Behind Arven

Arven grew out of fly fishing on the Tagus and the rivers around it, out of curiosity about the gear we use and the wish to develop lines of our own. We design them in Spain, starting from the fishing we know.

How we work

We study tapers and measure lines to understand how their design affects the cast. We also research the materials and manufacturing technologies available, to choose the most suitable construction for each model, from the core to the coating and finish.

Measurements guide the development; testing with other anglers will show us how that work translates into fishing.

We share our progress in Inside Arven.

Who is behind it

I’m Arturo Tabuyo, founder of Arven and a fly angler from Guadalajara, Spain. I fish mainly on the Tagus and the rivers around it. Wanting to understand how a fly line works led me to develop my own designs and to start Arven.
